New Trees for Central Park1

Thirty new trees were planted in Central Park on November 6, 2004.  This effort was spearheaded by People for Pasadena Parks (PPP) who raised the funds to purchase the trees and organized the tree planting.  Pasadena Beautiful Foundation participated by donating five of the ginkgo trees which were scattered around the park. The ginkgo has fan shaped leaves which turn a brilliant yellow and fall in profusion carpeting the ground in the fall.

Central Park, Pasadena’s first public park located just south of the Castle Green, between Fair Oaks and Raymond Avenues, has recently reopened to the public after several months of work. A detailed master plan, based on the park’s original design and the needs of the community today, has been adopted. But implementation is dependent on funding which is in short supply. Improved lighting and some pathway improvements were installed in the latest effort, as well as the new trees.  Pasadena Beautiful volunteers and city staff joined PPP President Claire Bogaard in doing the actual planting.
