We help people find qualified help for their trees. We pick up trash and pull weeds. We recognize those who beautify their little piece of America. We get trees planted throughout the community. We provide a place to recycle plant material.
There are lots of people with tools who cut trees; and they may even call themselves arborists. But do they really know about what they are doing? The International Society of Arboriculture is the only certification body that tests for a minimum level of knowledge. Those who pass the examination are given the title Certified Arborists.
As part of our mission of forming alliances with community-based organizations and governmental decision makers we work with many neighborhoods, schools, scouts and city forestry to do an annual clean up project. This activity goes to our founding roots in 1960.
As the "Crown of the Valley", Pasadena residents have always taken pride in beautifying their own yards or small spaces within their neighborhoods. Each year we recognize those efforts with the awarding of Golden Arrow signs throughout the community which are then proudly displayed at the site by the recipients.
A very important government alliance between us and the City of Pasadena Forestry Department that is supported by donations from the community, allows us to identify missing trees within the city street parkways and contract for the planting of new or replacement trees.
Just because a plant no longer works in one garden does not mean it cannot have a new life in someone else's yard. This is the idea behind the self serve Plant Bank where residents can leave or take any living plant material.
Not only do residents of Pasadena take pride in beautifying their own homes, but there is beautification on a larger scale throughout the community. We recognize exceptional beautification of commercial, institutional and multi-family projects.
