Over two dozen Golden Arrow signs were handed out to lucky recipients in Pasadena for outstanding landscaping! Two of the recipients from the Eaton Fire ravaged areas were especially proud. They think their xeriscape kept their yards and homes from igniting.
Golden Arrows Event Organizer and long time member Chuck Livingstone noted, “In all my years with Pasadena Beautiful, this year’s event stood out as being more emotional. Many tears were shed up at the podium as they received their Arrows.”
PBF President Sara Edwards agreed. “The winners worked very hard to upgrade their yards in both traditional and sustainable ways.” Ultimately, the event highlighted how modern landscaping is evolving from a purely aesthetic choice into a vital safety measure.
“Everyone was especially proud of the Eaton Fire survivors,” Edwards said. “As their neighbors rebuild, their yards serve as a landscaping template of what makes sense in these times of climate change and extreme weather.”
